Juice #54 - The Snack Juice (Liquefied Coconut, Strawberry, Açaí Juice, Orange Juice) Great for breakfast or snack time!

#54 Coconut & Strawberry

with Açaí Juice and Orange Juice

What a beautiful color! Coconut is its dominant flavor, and this is a very rich juice, which makes you feel pretty satisfied after drinking only a cup of it. Though high in calories, it could still work for those who are counting them, as part of their breakfast or as a fulfilling snack in between meals.

Coco & Morango

Juice #38 - The Four-layered (Pineapple, Strawberries, Blueberries, Carrots, Kale, Orange Juice, Homemade Pomegranate Juice, Coconut Water) It's beautiful!

#38 Another Juice Art

Okay, let's be honest here. This juice tastes really good, but the main reason you'll prepare it is to show off! Why should you serve a plain, regular juice to your guests, when you can wow them with something totally beautiful AND tasty? An yes, you can serve it to more people. It requires a little more work than preparing an everyday juice, but the results are totally worth it!

Juice #38
July 1st, 2015
This recipe makes 3½ cups (28 fl oz)
Total Calories = 226, approximately
Calories p/Cup = 64.57, approximately

Multi-color Juice with Fruit & Veggies

Ingredients
• ½ cup of Blueberries (42.5 Cal)
• 4.62 oz of Pineapple (ready to eat) (10.6 Cal)
• 2 small Carrots (snack size, ready to eat) (0.32 oz) (3.7 Cal)
• 3 leaves of Kale (1 oz without spines) (14.7 Cal)
• 1 cup of Strawberries, chopped, without their green tops (5.15 oz) (64 Cal)
• 2 tbsp of homemade Pomegranate Juice. (See Recipe #34) (3.24 Cal)
• ¼ cup of Orange Juice, bottled, 100% natural, with pulp (27.5 Cal)
• 2 tbsp of Coconut Water (5.62 Cal)
• ½ cup crushed Ice (or 4 cubes)*
• 4 cups crushed Ice**  (+1 optional)
• 2 tbsp of Water

How to Prepare It

Prepare the Blueberries
1. Wash the blueberries carefully and put them, plus the pomegranate juice and 1/8 cup of crushed ice (or 1 cube) inside the cup of a small blender.
2. Start by pulsing the blender until its content becomes more liquid and then blend it very well, for about a minute. (It's important to start by just pulsing, if you are using a small blender, since you don't want to add more liquid (we need a consistent juice) and you don't want you blender's engine to burn out, either).
3. Strain the content of the blender into a cup and set it aside.
4. Rinse the blender's cup.

Prepare the Pineapple
1. Cut the pineapple and the carrots into smaller pieces and put them inside the blender's cup.
2. Add the water and 1/8 cup of crushed ice (or 1 cube).
3. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 as for the blueberries. (I strained it just to be sure that there wouldn't be solid pieces left, but poured the pulp back into the juice.)

Prepare the Kale
1. Wash the Kale carefully, chop it and put it together with the orange juice inside the blender's cup.
2. Add 1/8 cup of crushed ice (or 1 cube).
3. Repeat steps 2 and 4 as for the blueberries. (I didn't strain the kale juice.)

Prepare the Strawberries
1. Wash the strawberries carefully, remove and discard their green tops, chop the strawberries, and put them together with the coconut water inside the blender's cup.
2. Add 1/8 cup of crushed ice (or 1 cube).
3. Repeat steps 2 and 4 as for the blueberries. (I didn't strain the strawberry juice.)

"Assemble" your Juice
1. Stir the blueberry juice and pour it in a tall, 28-oz (or even a bit larger) container.
2. Add 1 cup of crushed ice slowly, so that it floats on top of the juice.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, successively, for the pineapple juice, the kale juice and the strawberry juice (additional layer of crushed ice on top of the strawberry juice is optional).
6. Insert a long straw slowly into the container with the juice, trying not to disturb its layers.***

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
**Note 2: For this juice you will need some crushed ice. If you don't have an ice crusher on your refrigerator's door, you can do it by hand: wrap 6-8 ice cubes tightly with a clean dish cloth and crush them with a hammer (like the one you use to soften the meat). Do not crush the ice in the blender, since you want it crushed into somewhat large pieces.
***Note 4: When you start drinking, you can start stirring the juice slowly to create beautiful and artistic color effects. After drinking some, you can completely stir it to mix the flavors (the flavor is delicious when you mix everything). Just be warned that you'll have another "brown juice" when you mix everything together!

4. Enxague o copo do liquidificador.

Prepare o Abacaxi

Prepare a Couve

Juice #34A and 34B - Two-in-One (Basic Pomegranate, Pomegranate, Orange Juice, Coconut Water) Work on one and get two!

#34   Pomegranate: Two Recipes in One

Image from Google Images, labeled for reuse  /  Imagem encontrada no Google Images, rotulada para reuso

First thing we are going to see, today, is a fast (and messy) way to prepare a very basic juice from a Pomegranate. It's fast because we use the whole fruit, except for the rind*. Because we are using the pith, the juice is a little bitter, but the water added to help with the blending process softens it sufficiently to make the juice drinkable (it's actually flavorful for those who enjoy a little bit of biterness). In my case, the result is perfect, since I'm looking to use this very basic and light (water added) juice as an ingredient for other juice recipes.

*The rind can also be used, and, if used, increases the nutritional value of the juice.

Juice #34A

This recipe makes 3½ cups (28 fl oz)
Total Calories = 90, approximately
Calories p/Cup = 25.71, approximately

Basic Pomegranate Juice

Ingredients
• 1 Pomegranate (90 Cal, approximately)
• 1 cup shredded Ice (or 4 cubes)*
• 3 cups Water

How to Prepare It
1. Wash carefully the pomegranate, remove its rind, cut it into several pieces** and add them to a blender's cup.
2. Add the ice and 2 cups of water and blend everything for around 1 minute.
3. Strain the juice into a medium size bowl using a medium size strainer.
4. Pour the liquid into another recipient. (I used a measuring jar - See #2 below)
5. Push the seeds in the strainer against it, thoroughly, with the help of a spoon. (See #1)
6. Use the spoon to remove the puréed pulp from the bottom of the strainer and put this pulp into the bowl. (See #3 and #4)
7. Add about a cup of water to the empty blender's cup (#5 and #6), shake it (#7) and pour this water into the bowl with the puréed pulp (#8).
8. Stir the content in the bowl (#9) and pour it into the container with the rest of the juice (#10).
9. Your juice is ready to drink, or you can store it in the refrigerator, in a closed container (#13) to use as an ingredient for other juice recipes.

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
**Note 2: This process is VERY messy. Have paper towels at hand to keep cleaning around you and avoid stains (wear an old t-shirt).

Orange & Pomegranate Juice

This was the easiest juice to prepare, ever! I just mixed orange juice with some of the pomegranate juice I had just finished preparing, added a bit of coconut water and ice, and voila! Delicious and nutritious drink in a minute.

Ingredients
• 1 cup Orange Juice, 100% natural, with pulp (110 Cal)

How to Prepare It
Pour all the ingredients in a 12-oz glass, stir and add ice, if you want a colder drink.

Juice #2 - K-Fruit (Kale, Pineapple and Orange Juice) Yummy!

#2   Pineapple & Kale

with Orange Juice and Coconut Water

Juice #2
May 26, 2015
This recipe makes 2 cups (16 oz)
Total Calories = 94, approximately
Calories per cup = 47, aproximately

Pineapple & Kale
with Orange Juice and Coconut Water

Ingredients
0.35 oz of Baby Kale (0.52 Cal)
1 small piece of Pineapple (1.16 oz) (16.24 Cal)
½ cup Coconut Water (22.5 Cal)*
½ cup of Orange Juice (bottled, natural, no preservatives, with pulp) (55 Cal)
1 cup crushed Ice (or 2-3 ice cubes)**
Water as necessary

How to Prepare It
1. Tear the Baby Kale in pieces, removing the harder part in the middle of the leaves. Put the torn leaves into a small blender cup.
2. Cut the Pineapple in smaller pieces and add it to the cup.
3. Add to the cup: the Coconut Water, the Orange Juice, the ice and a cup of water.
4. Blend everything very well, for at least 1 minute.
5. Strain the juice little by little into a 16-oz glass using a small colander. Steer the juice thoroughly in the colander with a small spoon as you strain it, and drop the residual mass into the cup if you want your juice with pulp (it should be a fine mass, with no trace of pieces of fruit or vegetable); if you want it pulp free, remove the residual paste from the colander before pouring more juice into it.
6. If you would like your juice to be really cold, add some ice cubes.
7. Add water to fill up the cup and stir it well before drinking.

*Note 1: Coconut Water can be quite expensive, but is a natural sweetener. Note that this recipe does not contain any kind of sugar or artificial sweetener. A large 16-oz glass of this juice has around 39 calories, only!
**Note 2: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.

Abacaxi & Couve

Suco No 2
26 de maio de 2015
Esta receita faz 2 xícaras (473ml)
Calorias totais = 94, aproximadamente
Calorias por xícara = 47, aproximadamente

Abacaxi & Couve
