#190  Red & White Christmas Float Delight

Strawberry & Raspberry Juice, Apple and Vanilla Ice Cream

Christmas Week, Recipe 5

One of my favorite things about coming up with recipes is the creative process (the reason for this blog, indeed). I particularly enjoy the process of reinventing, using leftovers and transforming them into a totally new and delicious treat.

We had some Strawberry & Raspberry Juice left from yesterday's recipe, so we are going to use it today for our last Christmas-inspired creation (for which, by the way, I used the beautiful decorated glass (see picture) I received as a gift from my ex-colleagues at the Denver Public Library).

You definitely don't want to miss this one for your Christmas supper. It's highly festive and utterly delightful! Just a warning: this is really, really caloric!

#190  Float Vermelho e Branco para o Natal

Suco de Morango & Framboesa, Maçã e Sorvete de Baunilha

Semana do Natal, Receita 5

#189  Tricolor Christmas-inspired Juice

Kale, Avocado, Pear, Apple, Frozen Raspberries & Frozen Strawberries

How colorful and delicious!

Christmas Week, Recipe 4

Juice #189
December 23, 2015
This recipe makes 3½ cups (28 fl.oz.)
Total Calories = 270.37, approximately
Calories per Cup = 77.24, approximately

Kale, Avocado, Pear, Apple, Frozen Raspberries & Frozen Strawberries

Ingredients
• 1 leaf (large) of Kale, washed, spine removed, torn into small pieces (1.02 oz) (14.21 Cal)
• ½ Avocado (small), washed, peeled, cut in pieces (0.60 oz) (27.2 Cal)
• 1 Pear (D'Anjou), washed, peeled, seeds removed, cut in pieces (3.81 oz) (64.2 Cal)
• 1¼ Apple (Red), washed, peeled, seeds removed, cut in pieces (3.92 oz) (58.76 Cal)
• ¾ cup of frozen Raspberries (70 Cal)
• ¾ cup of frozen Strawberries (50 Cal)
• 4 cubes of Ice*
• 2½ cups of crushed Ice
• 1½ cups of Water

Prepare the Green Juice
1. Put 2 cubes of ice, the kale, ¾ of apple, the avocado and ¼ cup of water inside the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and mix everything for around 30 seconds.
2. Pour the juice into a container and set it aside.
3. Rinse the blender's cup.

Prepare the White (or yellowish) Juice
1. Put 2 cubes of ice, the pear, ½ apple and ¼ cup of water inside the rinsed blender's cup and mix everything for around 30 seconds.
2. Pour the juice into a container and set it aside.
3. Rinse the blender's cup.

Prepare the Red Juice
Put the raspberries, the strawberries and 1 cup of water inside the rinsed blender's cup and mix everything for around 30 seconds.

"Assemble" your Juice
1. Stir the green juice and pour it into a large 28-oz container.
2. Put 1½ cups of crushed ice carefully on top of the juice (if you followed the recipe, your green juice should be thick enough to hold the ice on top of it).
3. Stir the white (yellowish) juice and pour it on top of the ice very slowly, so that it doesn't go immediately through the ice layer.
4. Put a cup of crushed ice carefully on top of the white (yellowish) juice (if you followed the recipe, this juice will hold the ice just enough, though not as well as the green juice).
5. Stir the red juice and pour half of it** on top of the ice slowly (it should hold up enough to not filter immediately through the ice).
6. You can enhance the visual of your juice with some Christmas decoration.
7. With the help of a straw, you can create some color swirls.

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
**Note 2: The amount of red juice was more than the glass could hold, so I used only half of it. I saved the rest for tomorrow's recipe.
Note 3: You don't need (and shouldn't) stray this juice.
Note 4: I advise you to drink your juice with a straw, so that you don't need to eat the crushed ice as you drink it. I also advise you to mix all the layers. The flavor is great when you mix all together.

#189  Suco Tricolor Inspirado no Natal

Couve, Abacate, Pera, Maçã, Framboesas Congeladas e Morangos Congelados

Colorido e delicioso!

Semana do Natal, Receita 4

Suco No 189
23 de dezembro de 2015
Esta receita faz 3½ xícaras (828ml)
Calorias totais = 270,37 aproximadamente
Calorias por xícara = 77,24 aproximadamente

Couve, Abacate, Pera, Maçã, Framboesas Congeladas & Morangos Congelados

Ingredients

3. Enxágue o copo do liquidificador.

Prepare o Suco Branco (amarelado)
3. Enxágue o copo do liquidificador.

Prepare o Suco Vermelho

#185  Banana, Raspberries & Apple

The Banana Week, Recipe 7

As it seems to happen to all juices that have raspberries or blackberries as an ingredient, this also has a somewhat "wild" flavor. It is a little bit acid, so it could use some natural sweetener or even sugar (for those who don't mind eating sugar). It's a flavorful juice, with a gorgeous color.

Juice #185

December 19, 2015
This recipe makes 2 cups (16 fl.oz.)
Total Calories = 133.14, approximately

• 4 cubes of Ice*
• 1½ cups of Water

How to Prepare It
Put all the ingredients inside the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and mix everything for around 1 minute. For a better result, put 2 ice cubes in the bottom of the cup and 2 after the banana.

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: It's not necessary to strain this juice.

#157  Kale & Pumpkin

with Raspberries and a touch of Cinnamon

Very Low calories

Variations on a Theme, Week 3: Kale & Pumpkin

Our last variation for the series Kale & Pumpkin turned out to be one more weirdly brown-colored juice. But wait, don't run away yet. It's true that it has an odd earthy flavor, also, but it's not bad, actually. I believe that a little bit more of cinnamon might have done the job, so if you try it, you may want to double (probably) it's amount.

Juice #157

• 6 cubes of Ice*
• 1½ cups of Water

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: This juice has very little pulp. You can strain it, but it's not necessary.

#147  Mango & Pineapple

with Raspberries

Variations on a Theme, Week 2: Mango & Pineapple

Our third variation for the Mango & Pineapple series turned out really good. I don't know if this makes any sense, but this juice had a bit of a wild flavor (like if you had picked some kind of wild berries to prepare it). This one is a must!

Manga & Abacaxi

#134   Butternut Squash, Mango & Raspberries

with Coconut Water

It's Fall Season and it's Halloween week, so we couldn't miss a very orange Squash Juice, correct?
We included some mango and coconut water, to add some sweetness, and a few raspberries to boost the orange color and the flavor. It tastes great! All you need to do, to bribe your children into drinking a healthy "treat" this Saturday, is to incorporate a cheap, cute, not scary at all, Halloween ornament (it's a little button-like ornament; they drink the juice to get the token).

• 6 cubes of Ice*
• ½ cup of Water

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: You can strain the juice, but it's not necessary.

Fotos do Google Imagens

#133     Berries with Grape Juice

Here is a fun suggestion that could encourage your children to have something healthy to eat (or drink) before they jump on the candies they will collect when treat-or-tricking this Saturday. It's not bloody, it's moderately scary (unless you know that they are afraid of skulls and/or spiders) and, above all, it's delicious. They will surely love it.
