#96    Tangerine & Mango

with Turmeric Powder

See that outstanding yellow color? Well, we did use tangerine and mango, so a yellow color should be expected. Most of it, however, comes from the turmeric.

"Turmeric may be the most effective nutritional supplement in existence. Many high quality studies show that it has major benefits for your body and brain. (...) Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow color. It has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medical herb." (10 Proven Health Benefits of Turmeric and Curcumin, by Kris Gunnars, BSc.)

Now you can believe me when I say that Turmeric was the main responsible for the outstanding yellow color of this juice. In addition to that, you also found that it has been used for thousands of years as a spice and medical herb. And that's exactly the impression that came to me when I first tried the juice: "Goodness, it tastes like medicine!"

Yes. It's true. It tasted and smelled mainly like medicine. Not a bad one, I need to admit. Very drinkable, indeed, if you decide to take it for your health's sake. The worse part was the persistent bitterness that lasted for a couple of hours, at least. Yet, if you think of it as a powerful health supplement, than you may find that it's worth the bitterness. I'm not going to list here all the benefits attributed to turmeric. It's a long list, according to information found on the Internet. If you want to learn more, just do a research and you'll find plenty of articles about it.

Maybe I've used too much of Turmeric in my recipe, and that's what caused such bitterness. I may even try it again using half of it or less. For now, be aware that this juice, if you follow the recipe below, doesn't taste exactly like a beverage that you would drink for pure enjoyment. And if that's what you are looking for (something enjoyable), than you can always try one of these options: reduce the amount of turmeric, or just don't use it at all.

Bergamota & Manga

with Açafrão-da-terra (Cúrcuma, Turmérico) em pó

"Turmeric may be the most effective nutritional supplement in existence. Many high quality studies show that it has major benefits for your body and brain. (...) Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow color. It has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medical herb." (10 Proven Health Benefits of Turmeric and Curcumin, by Kris Gunnars, BSc.)

Juice #48 - Just Tasty (Diced Canned Tomatoes, Carrot Juice, Garlic, Green Olive, Salt, Sesame Seed Oil, Turmeric, Vinegar) Hmmm.... It needs some changes.

#48 Diced Tomatoes (canned) & Carrot Juice

Besides being super fast and easy to prepare, and having a great color, this juice is healthy and tasty. I could feel, however that it has a lot of potential to be much more than just "tasty". I want to upgrade it from "tasty" to "delicious". Tomorrow I'll use the other half of the canned tomatoes and I'm going to create basically the same juice, but changing the seasonings. I think I have already in mind what kind of changes I need to make to really boost the flavor!
