Juice #235 - Pineberry Smoothie (Pineapple, Strawberry, Vanilla Ice Cream) - A little too much ice cream

#235  Pineapple & Strawberry Smoothie

with Vanilla Ice Cream

I've given 4 stars to this juice. Don't forget to attribute your own at the bottom of this post!

The Pineapple Week, Recipe 3

I can't believe this is not a 5-star juice! How can a smoothie with pineapple, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream receive only 4 stars? The answer, believe it or not, is "too much ice cream".

This is the perfect example of why I created this "laboratory". A juice, a smoothie, a cocktail, a soup (or anything else that you cook) are not only about the ingredients. The most important factor, generally, is the balance. A perfect balance of ingredients is what makes the perfect recipe.

In this recipe, the ice cream was totally dominant and didn't leave room for the delicious flavors of  pineapple and strawberries to be also present.

Semana do Abacaxi, Receita 3

#165  Tangerine & Avocado

The Tangerine Week, Recipe 1

Finished our 4-week "Variations on a Theme", and partially inspired by it, we are now starting a week with ONE basic ingredient, and that is going to be Tangerine. When you buy a bag of fruit, you don't want them to go bad, and the best way to avoid that is to use all of them as soon as possible. So, during this week, I'll come up with a series of recipes that will make use of all the tangerines in the bag we bought for the first recipe before they have time to go bad.

Bergamota & Abacate

#136  Avocado

with Lime Juice, Sweetened Condensed Milk and Coconut Water

On October 16, I published a recipe inspired by the request of a friend who asked for recipes with lime (recipe #125). I used sweetened condensed milk to neutralize the tartness of the lime, but the result was still a little tart (like if I had used the lime with peel, which was not the case). I said, then, that I would try that same recipe again, in a near future, and would use lime juice instead of the whole fruit. I believed that in doing so I would turn that smoothie into one of the most delicious you could ever try.

So I did. So it happened. This new version is absolutely d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! Just one alert (again) it's still very high in calories.

And, by the way, I lost the pictures for the new version, so I used one of the pictures I had taken for the previous one (the smoothie looks the same; I had only changed the glass).

• 1 cup of Water

How to Prepare It
Put all the ingredients inside the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and blend everything very well for at least 1 minute. For a better result, put the ice cubes between the avocado and the rest of the ingredients.

Note 2: You can strain the juice, but it's not necessary.

Abacate

So delicious and so purple. Perfect for Halloween! And if you want a less caloric beverage, all you need to do is to use water instead of pineapple juice.

*This is a very small melon and also a Byers (CO) grown product. If you don't have access to it, use Cantaloupe instead. They are different, but Cantaloupe is still the closest to it in terms of flavor.

#109     Avocado and Pineapple

with Coconut Water

Camping for the first time, basically to test our new RV trailer, and not having Internet connection, I couldn't publish recipes for three days. Nevertheless, it was still possible to enjoy my daily juice by taking along the necessary ingredients and a small blender (which, by the way, I highly recommend; see picture and link below for more information about it).

This Avocado and pineapple combination, enhanced with coconut water, turned into a thick, velvety mixture much more like of a pudding consistency than of a juice. Rich and filling, it can substitute for a light meal in a busy day when you want to devote your time as much as possible to explore the surroundings of your campsite (in our case, driving to the top o Pikes Peak, but this is another story).

Avocado and pineapple mix really well. Their flavors seem to be created to blend with each other. And if you would prefer a more liquid juice, just add more water. The flavor will still  be equally delicious.

Abacate & Abacaxi

#100     Strawberry & Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

with Guava Nectar

(Smoothie)

You DON'T want to miss this one. Serious!

So we reached our 100th recipe. This means that a third of the way towards justifying the name of this blog has been already walked!

After the bitterness of yesterday, I decide to celebrate this mark with something really sweet and heavenly delicious. I wasn't so sure, however, about how delicious it would actually be, and that's because I used another ingredient that I had never tried before: frozen yogurt.

Today's challenge was a big one for me. I just can't eat yogurt. I feel bad saying this, but it causes me some repugnance (as well as milk). Because of that, I had never tried frozen yogurt. To my surprise (again), it didn't cause me that same bad feeling.

The final result was still more surprising: I couldn't tell any difference from this smoothie to the ones I make with vanilla ice cream. Actually, the only difference was that this one was MORE DELICIOUS than ever, and that's because I added some guava nectar to it.

Morango & Frozen Iogurte de Baunilha

com Néctar de Goiaba

(Vitamina)

#66   Strawberry & Pineapple

with Strawberry Sorbet and Cooked Pineapple Juice

This is REALLY sweet! And, of course, it's VERY caloric. And, of course, as it usually happens with very sweet and caloric things you eat, it is VERY delicious!

I used Private Selection Sweet Strawberry Sorbet and a cooked Pineapple Juice I made with pineapple skin and Maple Syrup (I'll be publishing this new recipe, also, in the near future, since it's a bit different from the first cooked pineapple juice I made before).

You should definitely try this one! If you don't wan't to go through the process of cooking the pineapple skin, you can use some bottled pineapple juice (it won't be the same, but should still be very delicious).

Morango & Abacaxi

#56 Coconut & Strawberry

Mix a white coconut with red strawberries, and what do you get? Another beautifully pink beverage. It's also another beverage for the coconut lovers. Even though strawberries have a strong flavor, the coconut is still the dominant ingredient in this juice.

#21 Pineapple, Apple & Guava Nectar

(garnished with strawberries)

Easy and fast to prepare, this is a really sweet and caloric juice, but tastes like heaven! I wouldn't add it to my daily diet, but will definitely indulge from time to time. It's important to know that the Guava Nectar is a canned juice and has sugar among its ingredients.
