Juice #242 - Yummy Salad (Tomato, Lettuce, Celery) A healthy, low-calorie, yummy salad!

#242   Tomato, Lettuce & Celery

with Salt

I've given 4 stars to this juice. Don't forget to attribute your own at the bottom of this post!

Amazingly low calories!

I've said this so many times already... Yes, I really love salad juices. You can taste all the flavors in this one, and I got the celery just in the right amount. It's a wonderful combination and, to make things still better, it's healthy and absolutely low in calories.

Put all the ingredients in the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and mix everything for around 1 minute. For a better result, put the ice between the tomato + celery and the lettuce.

Tomate, Alface & Aipo

The Tangerine Week, Recipe 5

Maybe a half cup of coconut water would bring this recipe to perfection. That's because the juice is a little bit more acid than I would kike it to be. In any case, it's still absolutely flavorful.

#127  Tomato & Avocado

with Celery, Cucumber, Beets, Vinegar and Mint

Low calories!

As you probably already know, "salad juices" are always my favorite ones. Today I added some avocado to my salad, and the result couldn't be better. Avocado adds a creamy texture to the beverage and doesn't have a dominant flavor. I challenge those who don't like avocado to try it in a juice. I bet you'll start using it frequently on your drinks (a small piece is enough to add a rich velvet consistence).

For those who worry about avocados being fat, I recommend a research on the Internet. You may be surprised by the results. Here is just one example:

"Eating avocados in place of foods containing saturated fat can help consumers achieve a major dietary goal of reducing the amount of saturated fat in their diet. Avocados are cholesterol and sodium free, and more than 50% of the fruit's fat content is monounsaturated. They are naturally free of sodium, trans fats and cholesterol, making them a great fruit to help meet eating recommendations." (Click here for original source of information.)

Tomate & Abacate

#99     Brussels Sprouts, Cucumber & Celery

(Read on this post, also: The Straw Strategy)

You can find more information about the nutritional benefits of Brussel Sprouts by searching online. Here is just one of the articles you'll find: The World's Healthiest Foods: Brussels sprouts.

The Straw Strategy
This juice is a bit too bitter for my taste, but it's definitely healthy, so I decide to go ahead and drank it all. I used a little trick, however, that I learned from somebody on Facebook: I drank it with a straw. Amazing! Next time you have something you need to drink but it's not exactly perfect for your taste, try to use a straw. At least for bitterness, it worked like a charm!

A Estratégia do Canudo

#89      Everything that fits (1)

That's it: everything you can fit in a single serve blender cup (or you can even try everything you can fit in a regular size cup). Just open the fridge and start pulling packs, and bags, and containers... and don't forget to take a look at your fruit basket, naturally. Be modest with the portions of each ingredient, though, so that you can end up with a nice mix.

Of course, you won't have the least idea of how that's going to taste, but that's exactly the fun part! I hadn't. And I must confess I was a bit skeptic. What a pleasant surprise when I tried it and found that it was simply delicious! I could clearly identify two of the ingredients: pineapple and apple. As for the rest, everything blended perfectly well with these two flavors. Great experience!

Now, if you prefer a safer way, with predictable results, here is the recipe of what I did today. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Very tasty, but I would like to try it again with less or no celery. That's just because I'm not very crazy about the flavor of celery, however. For those who really enjoy it, it's perfect. And again, it's healthy and very low in calories. Not to mention the striking color!

I have two friends visiting from Brazil, which explains why, for the first time since this blog came to life, I didn't publish anything yesterday.

Thanks to my friends, I ended up trying something, today, I've always thought I didn't like: celery. Not totally fond of eating it, but tried it in a recipe and it turned out very, very tasty.

Also thanks to my friends, the recipe today is for three people, instead of the single-serving I usually prepare. I guess all recipes will be the same way for the next ten days. It may also happen that I need to skip a day or two, again, since my first priority will be my guests for as long as they stay here.

Laranja, Aipo & Alface
