#245   Spinach, Alfalfa Sprouts, Ginger & Aloe Vera Gel

Unbelievably low calories!

I've given 1 star to this juice. Don't forget to attribute your own at the bottom of this post!

Before trying this recipe,
I strongly advise you to research online
about the benefits, or not, of ingesting the aloe vera gel.

If you follow the opinion of those who affirm that ingesting aloe vera gel is good for your health, then you'll find this juice very healthy. Unfortunately, it's far from being one of my best recipes. The aroma is not a pleasant one, as well as the flavor, which is a bit too bitter for my taste. The alfalfa sprouts completely dominate in terms of aroma and flavor and, unless you really enjoy those sprouts, you won't be enjoying your juice very much. If you decide to try it because you believe it's healthy, you can always use a straw to do it, which will disguise the bitterness a little bit.

Juice #245

This recipe makes 2 cups (16 Fl.oz.)
Total Calories = 24.31, approximately
Calories per Cup = 12.16, approximately

Spinach, Alfalfa Sprouts, Ginger & Aloe Vera Gel

Ingredients
• 2 cups of Spinach leaves, washed, chopped (1.73 oz) (11.27 Cal)
• ½ cup of Alfalfa Sprouts, ready to eat (0.53 oz) (7.8 Cal)
• 1 tbsp of Aloe Vera Gel (0.60 oz) (1.19 Cal)
• 1 slice of Ginger, washed, peeled, chopped (0.21 oz) (4.05 Cal)
• 4 cubes of Ice*
• 1¼ cups of Water

How to Prepare It
1. Put the spinach, 2 cubes of ice and ½ cup of water in the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and blend it for around 30 seconds.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the cup and blend everything together for around 1 minute.

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: This juice doesn't need to be strained.

Espinafre, Brotos de Alfafa, Gengibre & Gel de Aloe Vera

Calorias inacreditavelmente baixas!

#218  Orange, Lettuce, Beets & Ginger

The Orange & Lettuce Week, Recipe 7

This juice tastes really good, but I believe it would taste still better if I had used a smaller piece of beet. Beets have a strong flavor, which overpowered the mildness of the lettuce and the orange.

Laranja, Alface, Beterraba & Gengibre

#204  Apple, Kale & Ginger

The Apple Week, Recipe 7

Well, well... This is not a very tasty juice. Since apple and kale have already been tested together with success, I can only think that ginger doesn't go well together with those two. Regardless, it's not actually something that you can't drink at all, and it's healthy and low in calories, so it should work well as a detox juice.

Juice #204
January 9, 2016
This recipe makes 2 cups (18 fl.oz.)
Total Calories = 84.24, approximately
Calories per Cup = 42.12, approximately

• 1 Apple (I used Red Rome), washed, peeled, seeds removed, cut in small pieces (4.58 oz) (70.2 Cal)
• 1 Leaf of Lacinato Kale, washed, spine removed, torn into pieces (0.63 oz) (9.18 Cal)

•  cups of Water

How to Prepare It

2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the blended apple and mix everything again for around 30 seconds.

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: This juice doesn't need to be strained.

Maçã, Couve & Gengibre

Semana da Maçã, Receita 7

Okay...

#201  Apple, Tangerine, Broccoli & Ginger

The Apple Week, Recipe 4

This juice came out with too much pulp (even for me, and I do enjoy pulp). I ended up straining it, which reduced it's amount to 1½ cups (and certainly reduced the amount of calories, also). I don't like straining the juices I made because they lose a lot of their nutrients when you discard the pulp. That's the reason I gave this recipe two stars only. The flavor is good, but straining is not something I like doing. I can think of two possible solutions to avoid such an excess of pulp without needing to stray your juice: you can remove the apple's skin, or you can use only half of it (or even combine both options).

Juice #201

This recipe makes 2½ cups (20 fl.oz.)
Total Calories = 139.29, approximately

Apple, Tangerine, Broccoli & Ginger

Ingredients
• 1 Apple, green (I used Granny Smith), washed, with skin, seeds removed, cut in small pieces (6.60 oz) (97.24 Cal)
• 1 Clementine, washed, peeled, separated into segments (1.69 oz) (25.97 Cal)
• 2 flowers of Broccoli, washed, chopped (1.16 oz) (11.22 Cal)
• 1 slice of Ginger, washed, chopped (0.21 oz) (4.86 Cal)
• 3 cubes of Ice*
• 1 cup of Water

How to Prepare It
1. Put the apple, 1 cube of ice and ½ cup of water inside the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and mix it for around 30 seconds.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the blended apple and mix everything for around 30 seconds.

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: This juice has LOTS of pulp. I had to strain it.

#196  Pineapple (canned), Watermelon, Tangerine & Ugli Fruit

with Lemon, Lime and Ginger

The Citric Week, Recipe 6

This is an interesting combination, with the dominance of pineapple's flavor. Because it's canned, the pineapple provides enough sweetness to neutralize the acidity of the other ingredients (and the watermelon helps with this process also).

Juice #196

This recipe makes 2 cups (16 fl.oz.)

This recipe makes 2½ cups (20 fl.oz.)
Total Calories = 150.24, approximately
Calories per Cup = 60.09, approximately

Diced Tomatoes (canned), Beets, Kale, Spinach, Avocado & Ginger
with Onion, Chives, Mint and Salt

Ingredients
• 1 cup of Diced Tomatoes, canned (I used Hunts) (60 Cal)
• 1 slice of Beets, washed, peeled, chopped (1.09 oz) (13.76 Cal)
• 1 leaf of Kale, washed, spine removed, torn into small pieces (1.13 oz) (16.17 Cal)
• 1 handful of Spinach, leaves only, washed, chopped (1.13 oz) (7.59 Cal)
• ½ Avocado, small, washed, peeled, cut in pieces (0.99 oz) (44.8 Cal)
• 1 slice of Ginger, washed, peeled, chopped (0.24 oz) (5.67 Cal)
• 1 slice of Sweet Onion, peeled, washed, chopped (0.21 oz) (1.92 Cal)
• 1 small amount of fresh Chives, washed, chopped (0.04 oz) (0.33 Cal)
• 1 pinch of Mint, dry, crushed
• 1 pinch of Salt
• 4 cubes of Ice*
• 1 cup of crushed Ice
• ¾ cup of Water

Prepare the Green Juice
1. Put the kale, spinach, avocado, ginger, chives, 2 cubes of ice and ¼ cup of water inside the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and mix everything for around 30 seconds.
2. Pour the juice into a container and put it aside.
3. Rinse the blender's cup.

Prepare the Red Juice
Put the diced tomatoes, beets, onion, mint, salt, 2 cubes of ice and ½ cup of water inside the rinsed blender's cup and mix everything for around 30 seconds.

"Assemble" your Juice
1. Stir the green juice and pour it into a large 20-oz container.
2. Put 1 cup of crushed ice carefully on top of the juice (if you followed the recipe, this juice should be thick enough to hold the ice on top of it).
3. Stir the red juice and pour it on top of the ice very slowly, so that it doesn't go immediately through the ice layer.
4. Insert a straw all the way to the bottom of the glass, next to its wall, and drag the straw up, forming swirls to look like leaves (see picture). Repeat this process around the glass.

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: You don't need (and shouldn't) stray this juice.

Wonderfully healthy and low in calories

Christmas Week, Recipe 1

We are only five days away from Christmas (four days from Christmas eve), so we'll dedicate this week to Christmas-inspired recipes. You may even want to try one of these recipes for your Christmas supper and add an original and healthy touch to it. Let's start with this green and red juice, beautiful, absolutely healthy, low in calories and flavorful.

Juice #186

This recipe makes 2 cups (16 fl.oz.)

Tomato, Canned Diced Tomatoes, Spinach & Broccoli
with Ginger, Vinegar and Salt

Ingredients
• 1 Tomato, medium size (4.59 oz), washed, cut in pieces (23.4 Cal)
• ½ cup of Canned Diced Tomatoes (27.75 Cal)
• 1 handful of Spinach leaves (0.88 oz), washed (5.75 Cal)
• 2 flowers of Broccoli (0.49 oz), washed, chopped (5.1 Cal)
• 1 slice of Ginger, washed, peeled, chopped (0.11 oz) (2.43 Cal)
• 1 tsp of Red Wine Vinegar (1 Cal)
• 1 pinch of Salt
• 2 cubes of Ice*
• ½ cup of Crushed Ice
½ cup of Water

Prepare the Red Juice
1. Put 1 cube of ice, the tomato, diced tomato, vinegar and salt inside the cup of a small blender (or the single serve cup of a regular blender) and mix everything for around 30 seconds.
2. Pour the juice into a container and put it aside.
3. Rinse the blender's cup.

Prepare the Green Juice
Put 1 cube of ice, the spinach, broccoli, ginger and water inside the rinsed blender's cup and mix everything for around 30 seconds.

"Assemble" your Juice
1. Stir the red juice and pour it into a 12-oz container.
2. Put the crushed ice carefully on top of the red juice (if you follow the recipe, your red juice should be thick enough to hold the ice on top of it).
3. Stir the green juice and pour it on top of the ice very slowly, so that it doesn't go immediately through the ice layer.
4. You can enhance the visual of your juice with some Christmas decoration.
5. With the help of a straw, you can create some color swirls (see picture below), by mixing a bit of the green juice into the red one.
6. You can drink the juice in parts, or you can mix it all together. I mixed it all, and the flavor was great. I also removed most of the crushed ice, before drinking, to have a less icy juice (the layer of crushed ice is necessary to create a barrier between the two juices and keep the colors in layers).

*Note 1: The ice helps to better grind the ingredients.
Note 2: You don't need (and shouldn't) stray this juice.

Suco Vermelho & Verde para celebrar o Natal

Tomate, Tomate Enlatado Picado, Espinafre & Brócolis

com Gengibre, Vinagre e Sal

Maravilhosamente saudável e baixo em calorias

Semana do Natal, Receita 1

Suco No 186
20 de dezembro de 2015
Esta receita faz 2 xícaras (473ml)
Calorias totais = 65,43 aproximadamente
Calorias por xícara = 32,71 aproximadamente

Tomate, Tomate Enlatado Picado, Espinafre e Brócolis
com Gengibre, Vinagre e Sal

Ingredients
• 1 Tomate, tamanho médio (130g), lavado, cortado em pedaços (23,4 Cal)
• ½ xícara de Tomate Enlatado Picado (27,75 Cal)
• 1 punhado de folhas de Espinafre (25g) lavadas (5,75 Cal)
• 2 flores de Brócolis (15g), lavadas, picadas (5,1 Cal)
• 1 fatia de Gengibre, lavada, descascada, picada (3g) (2,43 Cal)
• 1 colher de chá de Vinagre de Vinho Tinto (1 Cal)
• 1 pitada de Sal
• 2 cubos de Gelo*
• ½ xícara de Gelo Triturado
• ½ xícara de Água

Prepare o Suco Vermelho
3. Enxágue o copo do liquidificador.

Prepare the Green Juice
